Bethany Artiss (b. 2000, London, United Kingdom) is a multidisciplinary artist dissecting the raw emotional undercurrants of human nature, isolation and exploring the unknown reality beyond. Working primarily with oil and canvas, Artiss doesn’t shy away from other mediums such as charcoal, watercolour, gouache and aryclic.
Artiss’s work is drawn from the raw, unsettling and unvarnished edges of life—human bodies, animals, ocean creatures—things that exist without apology. Artiss is also fascinated by other life forms and pulls a lot of inspiration from what isn’t fully understood: aliens, monsters, distorted anatomy and life beyond reality.
Artiss has been creating and telling stories since her early stages of life whether that be on canvas or through script, working in the entertainment industry as an actress, writer and singer. All different forms of art that bleed unto one another. Artiss’s work begins internally—pulling apart the psyche until something buried deep claws it’s way to the surface demanding to be brought to life on canvas or through music and film.
